Casualties in the War

No, this is not a post yet. . . I haven't gotten my act together to start writing on this blog. Soon, however, the ink will flow on these pages like those Tsunamis waves that hit SouthEast Asia few days ago. All my thoughts and positive energies go to all those people.

Today I'm linking an article about the American casualties in the war (still not a single word on Iraqi casualties, but that's the way war is here).

Originally published on Slate Magazine, I'm sure it will spread to more publications. Read it and enjoy it. I haven't read an article this good in several months!
Not a judgmental article nor partisan, as people like to say here in the US when they read something that they don't like. It's an article comparing casualties in Vietnam, with Casualties in Iraq sustained by soldiers. Which conflict was deadlier? Are you sure it's Vietnam? Read it. . . and think again.

That's me, a foreigner in the land of GWB, WMD, SUV's, GOP, OK, Big Mc's, blondes, brunettes, Mexicans, skinny girls and big-O-fat gals, starbucks, traffic, sweet tea, dollars, cell phones, match.com, B&N, Borders, shopping malls, supermarkets, Walmart, blogs, HBO, GAP, Banana Republic, condoms, casual sex, $2 cups of coffee, perfect white smiles, Porsches, outsourcing, GOD, abortions, prostitution, poverty, immense wealth, gun "control", MTV, values and morals, church on Sunday morning, white Caucasians, blacks, Asians, latinos, Mexicans, races, discrimination, incrimination, recrimination, global warming, NYTimes, CNN, Fox "news", civil and criminal law, foreign policy, education, $500 billion defense budget, senate, chamber, supreme court, Saturday nights, match.com, laptops, digital cameras, cell phones, and . . .

. . . and ME! right in the middle of it all: A Foreigner living, loving, working, studying, drinking, getting high, flirting, drinking coffee, fucking, kissing, learning, yelling at and being yell at, driving, traveling and, loving and being loved in the heart of America's Bible Belt.
